Abstract

The reappropiation of Aristotle's notion of mimesis is one of the main issues in Ricoeur's theory of narrativity. By means of the three-stage articulation of mimesis, the circle of time and narrativity is displayed. In this paper I will try to reconstruct the arguments that enable Ricoeur to recover Aristotle's concept regardless of the limitations that his Poetics imposes on its use. Thus the current validity of the notion of mimesis and its role in History will be appreciated
